Biography
Francisco Saavedra Rodríguez received the B.Sc. degree in biomedical engineering and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Concepción, Chile, in 2012 and 2017, respectively. From 2018 to 2020, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the same institution. Also, in 2019, he was a visiting researcher at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, University of Oxford, U.K. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Universidad de Concepción, Chile. His research interests include biomedical engineering, functional electrical stimulation, neurorehabilitation technologies, assistive systems, and the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare. He has participated in multiple national and international research projects funded by ANID and CORFO, focusing on the development of innovative medical and assistive devices. His recent work integrates multichannel sensing, machine learning, and embedded systems for assistive applications.
